In an effort to create awareness on these trends in Nigeria, Association of Computer Games Operators of Nigeria (ACGON) was founded on September 14 of 2007 to organize world class computer gaming events and tournaments in conjunction with CHAMS PLC brings to Nigeria this gaming event known as the world cyber games. The events are designed to create a festival for the digital culture and harmonize the youth market from all around the country. The World Cyber Games is the premier global digital online entertainment which holds annually with well over 1.5 million gamers participating from over 74 countries. Founded in 2000 and credited with launching the professional careers of many of the world's top computer games players, the World Cyber Games, also known as the Olympics of computer gaming is the longest running e-sport festival in the world. This world class event is being brought to Nigeria for the first time this year 2008 by the Association of Computer Games Operators of Nigeria (ACGON) as Nigeria’s National Organizer for all World Cyber Games (WCG) national events. ACGON also plans to organize conferences and exhibitions where strategic partners including major game and technology companies participate to help develop e-sports and the interactive entertainment industry in Nigeria.
